How to buy PLS, step by step
PLS is the coin PulseChain runs on: it pays for every transaction, and most tokens on the chain trade against it. Five steps, in the order a newcomer takes them.

Step 1
Get a wallet
A wallet is where your PLS lives. Your keys are the coins: whoever holds the recovery phrase holds everything, and no one can reset it. Write it on paper, never in a photo or a file.
A hardware wallet Optional
A small device that holds your keys and signs on the device itself, so a compromised computer or phone cannot move your coins. Worth it once the amount matters to you; you can add one later.
- LedgerHardware walletReaches PulseChain through a wallet app such as MetaMask, not through Ledger’s own.
- TrezorHardware walletOpen-source firmware. Reaches PulseChain through MetaMask rather than Trezor’s own app.
- TangemHardware walletThe shape of a card. PulseChain is built into its own app, with nothing else to install.
A wallet app
Where you see your coins and send them. Both of these support PulseChain; ZKX lists it first.
Step 2
Turn money into crypto
Skip this if you already hold crypto. ChangeNOW sells PLS for a card directly, in small amounts, and that is the whole purchase. For more, none of the largest exchanges listed PLS when this was checked, so buy ETH or USDC, on Ethereum or on Base, and withdraw it to your own wallet before the next step.
- ChangeNOWOn-rampBuys PLS with a card and sends it to your PulseChain address.
- PeerOn-rampPeer to peer: pay from a bank or payment app and receive crypto in your own wallet, with no exchange account in between.
- ProveXOn-ramp OfficialA peer-to-peer marketplace on PulseChain: you pay another person directly and no custodian holds the coins in between.
- CoinbaseExchangeBuy ETH or USDC with a bank transfer or a card. The largest exchange in the United States.
- BinanceExchangeBuy ETH or USDC with a bank transfer or a card. The largest exchange by trading volume.
- KrakenExchangeBuy ETH or USDC with a bank transfer or a card. Long-running, with wide European coverage.
- BitpandaExchangeAn Austrian broker for buying ETH or USDC in euros.
- Mt PelerinOn-rampA Swiss service that buys ETH or USDC straight into your own wallet, with no exchange account in between.
Step 3
Turn it into PLS
A swap service takes the ETH or USDC and sends PLS to your PulseChain address, so you arrive already able to pay for transactions. Send a small amount first.
- ChangeNOWInstant swapTakes ETH or USDC, on Ethereum or on Base, and sends PLS to your address. No account.
- SimpleSwapInstant swapThe same kind of swap: send one coin, receive PLS on PulseChain. No account.
- StealthEXInstant swapA third swap service that carries PLS on PulseChain. Compare the rate on all three.
Step 4
Trade on PulseChain
Every transaction costs a little PLS, so keep some back. Read the pool’s liquidity before a trade: a token quoted at a price with little behind it cannot be sold at that price. The bridge and LibertySwap bring coins over from other chains; PulseX and Piteas trade them once they are here.
- PulseChain BridgeBridge OfficialBrings ETH and stablecoins over from Ethereum, to trade on PulseChain.
- PulseXPulseChain DEX OfficialHolds most of the chain’s liquidity, so most trades clear here.
- LibertySwapCross-chain swapBuilt for PulseChain: swaps from Ethereum, Base, Solana, BNB Chain or Arbitrum into tokens on PulseChain.
- PiteasAggregatorSplits a trade across PulseChain’s exchanges for a better price.
Step 5
Keep the records
A swap is usually a taxable event where you live, and a chain most tax tools do not read is one you would have to record by hand.
Questions people ask first
Not when this page was last checked: none of the largest exchanges listed PLS, the PulseChain coin. Some list other tokens under similar tickers, so check the network as well as the name. The common routes are a swap service that sends PLS to your own address, or bridging a coin from Ethereum.
No. PulseChain uses the same address format as Ethereum, so any Ethereum wallet can hold PLS once PulseChain is added as a network, and a wallet built for PulseChain has it there already. The same recovery phrase controls the same address on both chains.
PLS. Every transaction on PulseChain is paid for in PLS, the way Ethereum’s are paid in ETH, and it usually costs a fraction of a cent. A wallet holding only tokens and no PLS cannot move them.
No. PulseChain is a hard fork of Ethereum, so every token that existed at the fork exists on both chains, at different prices. A token the fork carried over is not backed by the original; only a token brought over the bridge is a claim on the real one.
