What is INC, and who earns it?

INC, short for Incentive, is the token PulseX pays to people who supply liquidity to its pools. It is minted by the exchange’s farms, so its supply grows.

In short

  • It is paid to people who supply liquidity on PulseX.
  • Only the exchange’s farm contract can mint it.
  • Its supply grows, at a rate that is set to slow.

What it is for

A pool needs tokens in it before anyone can trade. The people who put them there are liquidity providers, and they earn a share of every swap’s fee.

INC is a second payment on top of that. In PulseX’s own words, it exists to further incentivise liquidity providers beyond the fees they are already making.

How it is earned

Supply a pair
Put two tokens into a pool in equal value, PLS and PLSX for instance.
Receive LP tokens
The pool hands back tokens that stand for your share of it.
Deposit them in a farm
A farm holds your LP tokens and pays by your share of everything deposited in it.
Collect INC
The farm mints INC to you for as long as the deposit stays.

A supply that grows

Only one address can mint INC: the farm contract. It mints at a rate per second that PulseX says is set to fall over time.

This site reads that rate from the contract and shows how much INC is minted a day. It is the opposite of PLSX, whose supply is burned.

What a farm’s yield leaves out

  • A farm’s yield is paid in dollars

It is paid in INC. If the price of INC falls while you farm it, the yield you were shown falls with it.

  • Supplying liquidity is like holding both tokens

A pool sells the token that rises and buys the one that falls. When their prices move apart, you end with less than if you had held them.

  • A high rate means a good farm

A rate is high when few people share the rewards or the pool is small. Either can change in a day.
